WASHINGTON, D.C.  Feb. 14 (DPI) – Michael T. Flynn last night resigned as Trump’s National Security Advisor – one of the most sensitive positions in the US government – and the reasons for his ouster set off a wave of ridicule and swelling anger across the internet – and of course the nation. Nowhere is the fury of online commentary greater than on boards linked to critical op-eds, particularly a recent one by Frank Bruni of The New York Times.  “The Flynn nightmare is over,” Bruni wrote. “It lasted all of 24 days.”

The popular comments linked to Bruni’s column echoed anger and despair – as well as predictions that more scandals are inevitable in the weeks ahead.  Among the most popular comments:

It’s all about Trump. It’s all about feeding his never ending need for praise and admiration. Trump surrounds himself with people that tell him what he wants to hear, not what he needs to hear. He surrounds himself with loyalists, not competence. He surrounds himself with only those that worship at the altar of Trump.
Meritocracy, experience, expertise, that’s all so old school now. This is the age of destruction, of tearing down the old order. Career administrators need not apply.
Rules, procedures, protocols, established culture are no longer required. Just make deals. Laws, rules and procedures just get in the way.
We are only three weeks and we have a big scandal. A top level resignation. They haven’t even gotten started yet.

How many more to go? Our so-called President should spare us the agita and just resign for the good of the country. What about Pence, you say?  As reactionary as Pence is, I’ll take him in a heartbeat.

Some have wondered if the Russians actually pitched Flynn to Trump. If Trump likes Putin so much it would make sense he would take his advice.
