No Surrender: WSJ Readers Attack Retired Admiral for Endorsing Biden

NEW YORK, NY Oct. 20 (DPI) – Retired Admiral William McRaven – by his own estimation “a pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, small-government, strong-defense and a national-anthem-standing conservative” – wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed that he’s already voted for Joe Biden.

McRaven’s public statement triggered a wave of largely hostile posts from WSJ readers, as nearly 4,500 comments elected to attack the military leader for his preference for president.

The top recommended comment suggested Trump continues to have some support among the US business establishment: “Mr McRaven: You voted for an on-the-take life long politician because you believe in leadership? Huh?”

Still, it’s notable that the WSJ editorial page – long a defender of Trump, but which has not yet endorsed him for re-election – published McRaven’s Op-Ed. It’s a sign that WSJ editorial page writers may yet surprise readers and endorse Biden as well.
