Conservatives Trampling Liberals by Wide Margin in Political Giving – So Far

WASHINGTON, D.C. Jan. 29 (DPI) – Conservatives come in many shapes and sizes these days, but, by one somewhat credible measure, they all are outspending traditional liberals by a wide margin so far this election season.  The numbers generated by opensecrets.org are especially striking given that supporters of Democrats outspent or kept pace with conservatives in 2014.

It’s still early in the 2016 campaign, and data today may not resemble tomorrow’s, but the early signs are that traditional liberal sponsors – particularly the NEA, the public-sector teachers union – have cut back sharply their political support. The NEA’s restraint may have a logical reason: The Supreme Court is reviewing the constitutionality of mandatory union dues, the life blood of the public teacher’s union financial strength. If the court rules against the teachers’ unions, it’s unlikely that they will carry the same political clout going forward.

Still, it’s notable too that the Democrat’s largest individual donor, Tom Steyer, has cut back his donations so far as well.

This is all according to opensecrets.org:
