BALTIMORE, MD. May 13 (DPI) – Ten people were shot on the streets of Baltimore last Sunday alone, part of a sudden surge in street violence in the city following last month’s riots. And the national media have largely ignored the trend, which is no less significant than the April street violence triggered by the death in custody of young unarmed black man.
The Baltimore Sun reported that the murders are up 25% compared with 2014. “At least 87 people have been killed in Baltimore this year, 22 more than at this time last year. Nonfatal shootings are up nearly 50 percent across the city,” it reported. And murders and shootings, it noted, have surged in the last two weeks.
Not even The Washington Post – located barely 40 miles away – has reported on the surge in street violence, which many readers – at least those posting on a Baltimore Sun comment board – assert is the result of police reducing their activities in various parts of the city. Six officers have been charged in the death of Freddie Gray, who was in police custody when he was fatally injured after a ride in the back of a police cruiser.

My guess is the escalation (in violence) is due to the reluctance of police because of the trumped up charges against the six officers. Black thugs are getting bolder because of the backlash against police. You reap what you sow
According to an officer friend, 34 officers have resigned since the riots. Haven’t seen this on the news!
