NYT Says Landrieu’s Loss in La. is All About Race – and Readers Heap Scorn

WASHINGTON, D.C. Dec. 5 (DPI) – Readers of a nytimes.com article on the grim re-election prospects of Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu zeroed in a single sentence today, skewering the writer and the newspaper for their own bias.

With astonishing unanimity, the top four recommended reader comments all reacted to the reporter’s assertion that race – not political views or policies – spurred the erosion of the incumbent Louisiana senator’s political support. The top four comments recommended by readers all opened with the article’s statement:

“The rise of the first black president helped accelerate the white migration to the Republicans, which was reflected in the Republican tide that swept away many surviving Democratic officeholders across the South in November. ”
Really. Aside from the writer’s personal opinion (guided by leftist dogma), what makes white people suddenly racist. Sorry… Suddenly MORE racist? These same people elected him twice.
It couldn’t be that after 6 years of DNC control of 2/3 to full ownership of government, that the public turn d on the ruling party could it? You know, as has historically happened in almost every 2-term presidency,… Nah, couldn’t be that. Has to be racism to the NYT…

“The rise of the first black president helped accelerate the white migration to the Republicans, which was reflected in the Republican tide that swept away many surviving Democratic officeholders across the South in November. ”
No. It is the constant insults and charges of racism that has driven working and middle class whites to the Republican Party. It was the democrat strategy to go down this road to attract more Latino and minority votes, by demonizing whites. They succeeded, spectacularly.

“The rise of the first black president helped accelerate the white migration to the Republicans….” How subtle the media’s racist bias slips into its “news” stories. Where’s the proof of this having anything to do with color? Louisiana, like most of the South, moved to the Republican camp because of Obama’s dismal record on the economy, dislike of the energy industry, and his other policies. Race had nothing to do with it, much to your chagrin.

“The rise of the first black president helped accelerate the white migration to the Republicans, which was reflected in the Republican tide that swept away many surviving Democratic officeholders across the South in November.”
Mr. Fausset, it was the rise of his and his party’s policies that helped accelerate the migration, which was not only white and occurred not only in the South. Please drop the tired race-planation excuse for the effects of the party’s misplaced emphasis on issues that did not resonate with voters.

As expected, Landrieu was trounced in Saturday’s runoff by Republican challenger Bill Cassidy.
