DC Legal Community Shocked by Vicious Home Attack on Prominent Lawyer

WASHINGTON, D.C. Nov. 17 (DPI) – The Washington legal community was shaken by the home invasion last week in which the managing partner of a prominent Arlington, Va., law firm and his wife were viciously attacked in their home on Nov. 9.

Less than an hour after the incident police arrested on the Washington Beltway a 31-year-old unemployed former Army JAG lawyer and his wife as they attempted to flee the area. They are now held without bail in Fairfax County Jail.

The home invasion and attack left 61-year-old Leo Fisher, managing partner of Bean Kinney & Korman of Arlington, and his wife, Susan Duncan, with life-threatening wounds. Both remain in a Northern Virginia hospital.

Charged were 31-year-old Andrew Schmuhl, and his wife, Alecia Schmuhl, 30, who is also a lawyer. Alecia Schmuhl had been fired by Bean Kinney & Korman the previous month, and the home assault was, according to police, motivated by revenge.
